Chichen Itzá is a fascinating city that is divided into two sections: Old Chichen and Chichen Itzá.
In the Old Chichen section, you can discover 6 Mayan ruins, while in New Chichen or Chichen Itza, there are around 20 additional Mayan ruins. In total, the Mayan site houses 26 ruins to admire and immerse yourself in its history.
The Pyramid of Chichén Itzá, also known as El Castillo, stands out as the main Mayan ruin, but other equally important structures include El Caracol or Observatory, The Temple of the Warriors and the Mayan Ball Court.
Located in the state of Yucatán, eastern Mexico, the ancient city of Chichén Itzá is strategically located between Mérida, Yucatán, and the well-known city of Cancún, Quintana Roo. This geographical position makes it a place that is easily accessible from both cities, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the great history of the Mayan civilization.
Did you know…?
The Castle was built on another identical but smaller structure, which houses inside the sculpture of a jaguar painted in red and with jade inlays that simulate the spots of this feline.
